Okara alternative: the same work, on your terms

Okara is the widest of the three products compared here, and the most metered: ten agents, 2,000 credits a month, and a skills library that asks you to log in before you can read it. Kwern runs thirteen agents on your own model provider key, works an App Store listing and the ad accounts as well as the website, publishes all of its skills as files you can read, and never posts or spends anything without your yes. Every figure below is linked to the page on their site it was read from.

Kwern sells a product that competes with Okara, so every claim about them on this page carries the page on their own site it came from.

Why people go looking past Okara

Okara calls itself “The Only AI CMO That Puts Marketing on Autopilot” and aims at indie and bootstrapped founders, small startups, B2B SaaS teams and agencies. Here is what sends people looking anyway.

01

The credit meter is the real price

$129 or $249 a month buys 2,000 credits, and Okara's own monthly estimate for a full Pro month is 1,860 of them. An article is 18, a video 60. The work you get is capped by a balance, and the way past the cap is a $45, $90 or $180 top-up, on the credit prices recorded on 26 August 2026.

02

The playbooks are behind a login

Eighty skill pages show you the front matter and the first paragraph, then ask you to log in to unlock the file. If the point of an agent platform is that you can read what it is about to do, that is the wrong side of a login.

okara.ai/skills
03

It has nowhere to put an App Store product

Their integrations page lists content management systems, analytics, GitHub and social accounts. If the product you are marketing is an app, there is nowhere to connect the listing, the ad account or the revenue.

okara.ai/docs/integrations
04

The reviews name the same missing pieces

A third-party review of Okara lists the same things as its cons: no API and no MCP server, no SOC 2, no CRM and no paid ads, and a strategy the product locks in early. Two of those are rows in the table below. The point is that they are what people notice once they are inside rather than while they are deciding.

What Kwern is instead

A marketing workspace for the person who built the product, in five lines.

An agent for every channel, on a schedule

One agent per channel, 14 of them: ASO, Apple Ads, SEO, GEO, Google Ads, X posts, X replies, X Communities, Influencers, LinkedIn, Reddit, Hacker News, Competitors and Writer. Each runs as a Loop on its own cadence, set by how fast its channel moves. Every agent

It works from your real data

It reads the product before it writes about it: the site or the App Store listing, then whatever you connect of 11 services. A draft is written against this week's data, not last quarter's brief. What you can connect

Nothing goes out without you

Every post, reply, listing change and bid arrives as a proposal in one feed. Approve it and Kwern posts it where it holds the key; where it does not, it hands you the text and the link. There is no switch that turns this off.

The model is yours and so is the bill

The model runs on your own provider key. The tokens are billed to you by the provider at the provider's price, Kwern records what every run cost, and a good week of tokens never drains a balance you have to top up. What the subscription covers

The playbooks are readable

All 75 marketing skills are open Agent Skills files you can read before they run and take with you afterwards. Most are Corey Haines' public marketing skills, credited and pinned to the commit they were vendored at. The skills catalogue

Kwern and Okara, row by row

The same rows for every competitor on this site, so two of these pages can be read against each other. Read Okara's own pricing page before you take any of it on trust.

First class. An ASO agent on the listing, an Apple Ads agent on the campaigns, and RevenueCat for what the app actually earns.

Their integrations page lists content management systems, Google Analytics, Search Console, GitHub, X and LinkedIn. The App Store is not among them.

11 services: Apple Ads, App Store, GitHub, Google (Search Console, Analytics), Google Ads, Google Play, LinkedIn, PostHog, RevenueCat, Stripe and X.

Google Analytics and Search Console, a GitHub repository, X and LinkedIn, and a CMS to publish into: WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Wix or Sanity.

Every post, reply, listing change and bid is a proposal you approve, edit or throw away. In chat it is one click per write.

Never on its own. Where Kwern holds the key it posts after your yes; where it does not, it hands you the text and the link and waits for you to mark it done.

Everything an agent makes waits in the Agents Feed until you post it, publish it or mark it done.

The Pro plan adds CMS auto-publish and LinkedIn auto-posting.

The model runs on your own provider key, so the tokens are billed to you by the provider at the provider's price and never resold here. The plan's usage pays for the reads Kwern makes for you, at prices published in full.

Subscription plus credits: 2,000 a month on either paid plan, with top-ups at $45, $90 and $180.

The credit costs, the top-up prices and their own 1,860-of-2,000 estimate for a full month on Pro were recorded on 26 August 2026.

What a month actually costs

Okara's two paid plans are $129 and $249 a month, and both carry 2,000 credits (the credit costs and top-up prices below were recorded on 26 August 2026); an article costs 18 of them, a Reddit thread with its reply 8, a UGC video 60. Their own monthly estimate for a full Pro month is 1,860 of the 2,000, so a heavy month ends in a top-up at $45, $90 or $180. Kwern is $29 to $99 a month by how many products the plan covers, and the number you will pay on top of it is your model provider's, on your own key, at their price. Kwern records what every run cost, so the second bill is itemised rather than deduced from a credit balance.

Kwern's own figures are the ones Stripe charges, read straight off the account; the pricing page prints the same ones.

Where Okara is the better buy

Three things they do that Kwern does not, taken from their own pages rather than from a feature grid.

01

It makes video and Kwern does not

The UGC Videos agent drafts concepts, scripts and multi-aspect clips, at least thirty drafts a month on the Pro plan. Kwern has no video agent and is not pretending otherwise.

okara.ai/agent/ugc-video
02

It runs the whole influencer campaign

Brief it in chat, approve the creators it ranks, fund the campaign through Stripe and it runs the outreach and the change requests from there. Kwern's influencer agent finds people and drafts the message; it does not hold the money.

okara.ai/agent/influencer
03

The documentation is genuinely complete

Forty-three pages covering every channel, every integration and the credit cost of each action, published as Markdown with a machine-readable index. That is more documentation than most products this size ever write.

okara.ai/docs/introduction

Who should stay on Okara, and when Kwern is the right answer

Okara

If one of these is you, the rest of this page is not an argument worth reading. Their pricing page is okara.ai/pricing.

Video is the channel you actually need

Thirty video drafts a month, with scripts and multi-aspect clips, is a whole channel Kwern does not have an agent for. If short-form is the plan, this is the wrong comparison to be reading.

okara.ai/agent/ugc-video

You want influencer campaigns run for you, not drafted

Funding creators through Stripe, chasing deliverables and handling refunds inside the same product is real work, and Okara does it. Kwern finds the people and writes the message; the money stays yours to move.

okara.ai/agent/influencer

Your site lives in a CMS you publish into

Publishing into WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Wix or Sanity with SEO fields mapped is a solved problem there. Kwern opens a pull request against the repository that serves your site, which suits a site you deploy and not a site you edit in a CMS.

okara.ai/docs/integrations

Kwern

The product is an app, or an app and a site

Kwern's ASO agent reads the listing, the ratings and the reviews, the Apple Ads agent works the campaigns and RevenueCat reports what the app actually earns. Okara's integrations page has nowhere to put an App Store account.

You would rather not buy the model in credits

One subscription, and the model billed to you by your provider at their price, per run, itemised. The plan's usage pays for the reads Kwern makes for you and nothing else, at prices published in full on the pricing page.

You want to read the playbook and script the feed

All the skills are open Agent Skills files you can read before they run and take with you afterwards, and the MCP server puts the proposal feed inside your editor. Okara's skill files ask you to log in and its documentation lists no API.

Every comparison on this site starts from the compare hub, and Okara has an entry in the roundup of AI CMO tools.

Questions about moving off Okara

Someone is asking for what you built today.

On Reddit, on X, in ChatGPT's answers. Kwern finds them every morning and drafts the reply in your voice; you decide what goes out.
